Lot 437 | A Significant Signed Baseball Featuring Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Hank Aaron (Beckett Authentication Services Letter)
Starting at $5,000

An Atlanta Family Legacy

It’s not unusual for a baseball to pass down from generation to generation, but few carry the legacy of the historic Atlanta baseball that headlines the sale (lot 437; starting at $5,000). In the mid-1930s, Major League Baseball was still some three decades away from arriving in Atlanta, so when the Yankees came to town shortly after Spring Training to play an exhibition game, it was a big deal. Fans packed Atlanta’s Ponce De Leon Stadium, which has a unique place in baseball history as the only professional stadium to ever have a tree in play. The official ground rule was that if the ball hit the tree, situated 462 feet in dead center, and bounced back into the outfield it was in play but was otherwise a home run. Ruth, legend holds, became the first player ever to homer off the tree that day.

According to family lore, a lucky and resourceful nine year old managed to secure the ball and decided to commemorate the occasion by having Ruth and teammate Lou Gehrig sign the ball. This ball would pass down through the same Atlanta family for generations and add several more names to the ball along the way, including Atlanta Braves legends Eddie Matthews and Hank Aaron, the man who would break Ruth’s all-time home run record.

Lot 312 | A Complete Set of 2003-04 Upper Deck BGS Graded Plexiglass Parallel Basketball Cards (60/60)
With Glass Rookies (38/40) Including LeBron James Numbered Rookie Card
Starting at $2,500

Upper Deck Calls Glass

The 2003–04 NBA season was a turning point in basketball history, bridging two eras that saw exponential growth in interest in the league. A new generation of talent burst onto the scene, as names like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony began carving their paths toward legendary status. The future was bright and innovation was everywhere, including the world of basketball cards.

In January 2004, the Upper Deck introduced UD Glass, a clear trading card that put the game into sharp focus through a stunning design and material craftsmanship. Offered in the sale is a complete set of the 100-card set (lot 312; starting at $2,500) that features striking, clear-card versions of the 60 veteran base card set, produced on plexi-glass stock with an updated design. As an added bonus, all rookie cards issued were exclusively made of plexi-glass.

Given its limited production (numbered to 250) the LeBron James rookie from Upper Deck Glass stands as one of the most elusive modern-era cards produced. With only 130 examples recorded in Beckett’s population report and 23 with PSA, this offering is undoubtedly one of the more difficult in a crowded space of the future all-time scoring king's non-auto rookie issues.

Lot 497 | Travis Scott X Jordan 1 Retro High OG Mocha (DS)
Starting at $400

The Curated Collection of a Sneaker Head

Session Two culminates with The Curated Collection of Aaron Hunter Colwell, a striking lineup of modern sneakers anchored by highly sought-after deadstock Jordan and Nike releases. The highlight of the collection is expected to be a pair of Travis Scott X Jordan 1 Retro High OG Mocha (DS) (lot 497; starting at $400). Released on 5/11/19, this highly coveted collaboration between Travis Scott and Jordan Brand features the Air Jordan 1 with premium white leather and dark mocha suede, accented by a reverse Swoosh. The earthy tones and unique design details make it a standout in both streetwear and sneaker culture. Bold hits of University Red appear on the tongue, showcasing Cactus Jack and Nike co-branding, while the heel is finished with Scott’s signature face logo for a personalized touch.
