Lot Description
Ed Kalfayan Sub Hilt Fighter Knife with Sheath
6.25" blade length. 4.75" hilt. 12.5" overall with sheath. Straight single edge clip point knife with exaggerated unsharpened false edge, hollow ground edges, and hidden tang hilt with polished stainless guard, pommel, and finger rest spaced with walnut. Left blade acid etched with the Kalfayan signature of knifemaker Ed Kalfayan. Comes with a black leather sheath with honing stone in pouch, and alligator pattern to leather.
A founding member of the Knife Maker's Guild, Ed Kalfayan was known for his bold contemporary style knives featuring polished stainless steel blades and hilts composed of exotic materials. Upon his death in 2012, Kalfayan had earned the respect of knifemakers and aficionados that lingers to this day. He preferred to work with hand tools, and conducted business in person and over the phone rather than online. A bold contemporary Bowie produced by an old school maker.
