Lot Description

William "Bill" Herndon Dagger in Presentation Case

8.25" blade length. 13" overall with hilt. Straight double edged dagger with polished blued edges and bolsters, and matte blued flats mounting two piece polished and lacquered ironwood grip scales, and a "live edge" design to the tang that matches over the grip scales. Bolsters are inlaid with a gold border, and the ricasso engraved with the signature Herndon, for knifemaker William "Bill" Herdon of Acton, California. Item comes with a matching Wenge wood presentation case with blue velvet liner.

William "Bill" Herdon spent his career working as a photographer and film stock salesman in San Francisco, until his retirement in 1997, when he moved to the much quieter town of Acton. There, Herdon indulged in a hobby that transformed into his second career, forging custom knives in a variety of styles. This presentation example displays an attractive deep blue with the more restrained and polished style Herdon is best known for.
