Post Civil War US Navy Model 1852 Officer's Sword, Scabbard & Belt and a Trapdoor Cadet Socket Bayonet
Indian Wars
1) USN Model 1852 Naval Officer's Sword with scabbard and belt. 29" straight single-edged spear point blade, .75" wide at ricasso. Blade with 18.5" median fuller. Overall length 34.25". 5.5" hilt with gilt cast brass guard with USN in a ribbon in the face, traditional sea serpent quillon and grooved wood grip covered in shagreen with 12 wraps of twisted wire. Pommel cap with an American Eagle surrounded by stars. Blade etched with traditional patriotic and nautical motifs and etched MYERS/NORFOLK/VA on the reverse ricasso. Includes gilt brass mounted leather scabbard, naval officer's leather sword belt with gilt brass two-piece tongue and wreath buckle, and a gold bullion sword knot.
2) US Model 1873 Cadet Trapdoor Rifle Socket Bayonet. 16" blade with 2.95" socket, 19" in overall length. Face of blade marked US. Locking ring intact.
