Lot Description

Iron Mounted Flintlock Full Stock Rifle

.38 Cal. 45" barrel length. NSN. Deep brown patina overall with iron mounted stock with double set triggers and maple full stock with crescent buttplate. Single shot flintock rifle with octagonal barrel mounting semi-buckhorn rear and German Silver front blade sights. Lockplate shows some light engraved borders with legible WARRANTED marking below the pan, but other marks eroded. Barrel is unsigned, and the stock built with a cheek rest and no patchbox. Comes with a wood ramrod. Rifle shows a deep patinated plug surrounding the touch hole indicating it was likely reconverted from percussion to flint. Features a roller frizzen without waterproof pan. The cock is slightly too short to rest over the lip of the pan, suggesting it, too, was replaced. Rifle displays the typical iron mountings and curved butt characteristics seen on Eastern Tennessee or Western North Carolina rifles. {ANTIQUE}
