[POLITICS]. A group of 4 items autographed by Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, and Jacob Coxey. 


ROOSEVELT, Theodore (1858-1919). Clipped signature ("Theodore Roosevelt"). N.p., n.d. 7 1/16 x 1 1/2 in. (minor toning). With part of typed letter. 

COOLIDGE, Calvin (1872-1933). Typed letter signed ("Calvin Coolidge"), to S. W. Stratton, President of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Northampton, MA, 16 April 1929. 1 page, 4to, on Calvin Coolidge letterhead, minor toning, old folds. Coolidge thanks Stratton for the invitation to speak at MIT's commencement but declines, living up to his sobriquet "Silent Cal" he states "I am trying to avoid making speeches so that I shall have to decline." 

COOLIDGE, Calvin. Signature on maroon 5-cent US stamp ("Calvin Coolidge"), as Vice President?. N.p., n.d. 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 in. (minor toning.)

[Also with:] COXEY, Jacob Sechler, Sr. (1854-1951). Clipped signature ("J.S. Coxey"). N.p., n.d. 4 3/4 x 1 1/4 in. (minor toning). An American politician who twice led a group of unemployed men, dubbed "Coxey's Army", to Washington to present a "Petition in Boots" demanding action from Congress to create jobs and allocate funds for the unemployed.
