[CIVIL WAR]. Post-mortem dissecting kit by Tiemann, ca 1860s, comprising:
3 ebony handle scalpels, one steel handle scalpel, one steel handle dissecting hook, a set of wire chain hooks, one set of forceps, and one blowpipe. -- Together, 8 instruments, most approx. l. 6 in., all marked "Tiemann & Co.," except blowpipe, chain hooks ,and one ebony-handled scalpel, housed in 6 3/4 x 2 3/8 x 1 1/8 in. wooden case with brass fittings.
