Lot Description

[WESTERN AMERICANA - NEVADA]. A group of early images from Tonopah, Goldfield, and Reno, comprising: 


Outdoor image of two stores in Tonopah. Tonopah, NV: N.p., n.d. 8 1/2 x 6 3/4 in. silver gelatin print on cardstock mount (light abrasion to image edges; chipping to mount corners). Two men are visible in the doorway. A sign advertises "The New and Popular Game Box Ball for Ladies & Gents." Verso with a later pencil inscription "Grandpa's Store, Tonopah." -- CHAFFIN, F.J., photographer. Goldfield Nevada Exploded Engine Boiler May 1910.  Goldfield, NV: Chaffin, May 1910. 8 x 6 1/8 in. silver gelatin photograph on cardstock mount (chipping to mount). Photographer's hand-written imprint written on railroad tie in image. Pencil inscription to verso. A group of well-dressed men and women pose in front of the exploded boiler. Many other figures, some with bicycles, are visible to the sides and in the background. -- Outdoor portrait of 2 men and 2 women sitting. Goldfield, NV: N.p., 1900. 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 in. silver gelatin on cardstock mount (light wear to edges). Pencil inscription to verso. -- Golden Eagle, Reno Nev. Reno, Nevada: N.p., n.d. 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount (faded, some soiling). A group poses on the front porch of a large building marked "Golden Eagle." A horse-drawn carriage and a dog are parked in the street. -- Together, 4 photographs.
