Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Albumen photograph of Captain William Wheeler Woodworth, Co. D, New York 64th Volunteer Infantry. N.p.: n.p., [1860s].
6 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. hand-gilt albumen photograph on cardstock mount (some spots, corners heavily clipped). Pencil inscription to the verso identifies the subject.
Woodworth (1820-1862) enlisted at Elmira, NY as a first lieutenant on 10 December 1861. He was commissioned into Co. D of the 64th New York Infantry the same day. Promoted to captain on 26 February 1862, he died of disease at Falmouth, VA on 28 December 1862.
