Seated portrait of Acting Ensign John Morissey Jr., in full uniform with an album visible on the table behind him. Boston, MA: J. W. Black, n.d. Morissey wears the 1863 uniform of a US Navy ensign and holds a sailor's hat on his lap. He served aboard the ironclad USS Winnebago during the Civil War as part of the Gulf Blockade Squadron. -- Vignetted bust portrait of Acting Assistant Paymaster Frank K. Moore, wearing the uniform of a sailor. New Orleans, LA: L. I. Prince, n.d. Moore served aboard the USS Port Royal. -- Seated half portrait of Acting Ensign James H. Delano in uniform. Baltimore, MD: J. H. Whitehurst, n.d. Delano enlisted as an acting mast mate on 23 December 1863, and was commissioned into the US Navy that same day. He was promoted to acting ensign in October of 1864, and throughout the war he served on multiple ships including the USS Ohio, Galena, Morse, Waxsaw, Augusta, and as part of the West Gulf, North Atlantic, and European Squadrons. -- Vignetted bust portrait of Acting Ensign George L.
