[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 40 assorted sixth and ninth plate ambrotype and tintype portraits of men, women, and children, incl. example by GUTEKUNST.
Sixth plate ambrotype portrait of a young mother wearing hoop earrings and holding her sleeping toddler. (Spotting, few scratches and other imperfections, spotting to mat.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (split at spine, surface wear). -- Sixth plate seated ambrotype portrait of a very elderly woman wearing some kind of hat or tight head wrap and showing off part of her gnarled-looking hand. (Some light spots and areas of possible abrasion/image loss around edges.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (split at spine, surface wear). -- Sixth plate portrait of a young boy resting his arm on a table draped in floral cloth. (Few imperfections to plate, few spots to mat.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver only; no case. Mat stamped "AMBROTYPE BY GUTEKUNST 706 ARCH ST. / AMBROTYPE BY GUTEKUNST." -- And 37 others, including 29 sixth plate examples and 8 ninth plate examples. Some without cases. Conditions vary. -- Together, 40 assorted ambrotypes and tintypes.
