Lot Description
[FLAGS]. 13-star American flag. Ca late 19th-early 20th century.
Approx. 45 x 69 in. wool flag with 13 double-appliquéd cotton stars machine sewn to a two-part wool canton, configured in a pattern comprised of horizontal rows 4/5/4. The field consists of 13 machine-sewn wool stripes, with black tulle stitched to the reverse side of the topmost stripe. Hoist is cotton with two brass grommets, and stenciled with maker's name on the header, "B. Woods Sons Makers SVB (?) House (?) N.Y."
