[CIVIL WAR]. Women for the Union. A group of images ft. female figures incl. Major Belle Reynolds, Pauline Cushman, and others.
CDV studio portrait of Union nurse Major Belle Reynolds. New York: E. & H. T. Anthony, ca 1862. Penciled identification on verso along with Anthony's imprint. -- CDV studio portrait of a woman wearing an American flag draped over her shoulder and a hat topped with what appears to be a taxidermy eagle. Draped flags hang in the background. Cleveland, OH: J. F. Ryder, n.d. Verso bears Ryder's imprint. Accompanied by small remnant of a CDV sleeve with penciled inscription: "Miss Mary McHenry." -- CDV group portrait of 12 ladies and one man. Albany, NY: J. H. Abbott, ca 1864. Verso bears Abbott's imprint along with ink inscription reading, "French Booth, Army Relief Bazaar, Albany, N.Y., February 1864." -- Stereoview portrait of Pauline Cushman wearing an off-the-shoulder draped cloth on top, which has been hand-colored in red. N.p.: n.p., n.d. Ink inscription beneath image and printed paper label on verso identify the subject as "Joan of Arc." Cushman was known as the Union's "Joan of Arc" for her sacrificial service as a spy for the Union cause. -- Vignetted bust profile portrait of abolitionist and women's rights activist Anna Dickinson.
