[INDIAN WARS]. CDV of two identified hunting dogs at Fort Buford, Dakota Territory, 27 August 1873.
CDV on cardstock mount showing two pointing dogs at rest, no studio imprint, with period manuscript notation in lower margin, "Day's dogs, 'Josh' & 'Dash,' Fort Buford, D.T., 27 Aug. /[18]73."
Fort Buford was a US Army Post at the confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers in Dakota Territory, present day North Dakota, and the site of Sitting Bull's surrender in 1881.
