[LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865)]. Pair of stereoviews featuring the Lincoln funeral train. Ca 1865.
2 stereoviews on yellow mounts. The first features Chicago & Alton Railroad Engine No. 58 of the Lincoln funeral train at Springfield, Illinois. Uncredited, though a CDV example credits this image to J. Carbutt, ca 1865. A large portrait of Lincoln is fastened to the front of the engine, which appears to be draped in mourning. -- The second features Lincoln's funeral train car, draped in mourning, in Buffalo, New York. Uncredited, though a CDV example of this image is credited to M. Beyer, ca 1865. The train arrived in Buffalo on 27 April 1865 for that city's turn at honoring the fallen president. -- Together, 2 stereoviews.
