Lot Description

[POLITICS]. William Henry Harrison silk campaign bandana. 1840.


23 1/2 x 27 1/2 in. (sight) silk bandana in red, brown, and white, with printed portrait of William Henry Harrison against a red ground at center and legend below, "William Henry Harrison / Commander in Chief of the Northwestern Army During the War of 1821" (misprint for 1812). The white border contains repeating scenes of Harrison plowing his field with horses in front of a log cabin. Eagle and flags are in each corner, with legend, "Harrison and Reform." Framed, 26 1/2 x 30 3/4 in. overall. See Collins, Threads of History, fig. 124, p. 99.

A scarcely encountered bandana issued for William Henry Harrison's 1840 presidential campaign.
