A Japanese Satsuma-Type "Figural Reserves" Cabinet Vase, Meizan Workshop, Meiji Period
Meiji Period (1868-1912)
The bottle vase decorated with numerous bean-shaped reserves of Heian-era figures, possibly scenes from the Tale of Genji, and birds in landscapes, all against a diaper ground, stylized butterfly border to the base, fret band below the lip; underside with gilt seal Meizan.
