Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title-page, and 41 engraved plates by Robert Seymour and Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"). With a fine fore-edge painting of Charles Dickens seated at his writing desk, within a decorative architectural border, and with two smaller figures representing Samuel Pickwick and Sam Weller. Full crimson levant, ruled and decorated in gilt; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; light to moderate foxing to plates; scattered light spotting to text. Smith I, 3
