The Jupp-Hearst Copy, One of Only Eight Printed

(London): Issued for Private Use by Chapman and Hall Limited, (1887). In four volumes (extended from two). Limited deluxe edition, #8 of only eight copies printed on Japan vellum, and signed in first and third volumes by printers Richard Clay & Sons; publisher Frederic Chapman; and editor Chas. P. Johnson. 4to. With numerous photogravure plates as issued, and lavishly extra-illustrated with over 330 engraved plates (comprising various states, proofs, and illustrations from various Pickwick editions, etc.), after Hablot Knight Browne, Thomas Onwhyn, Frederic W. Pailthorpe, and others; many hand-colored, all inlaid to size. Finely bound in full crushed crimson levant, elaborately decorated in gilt foral and arabesque pattern, front boards lettered in gilt, ruled in blind, front joint of first volume repaired, front board of last volume detached, rear board of same volume starting, light wear to upper and lower front joints of second and third volumes, upper front and rear corners of last volume worn, small chip in foot of spine in same volume; all edges gilt; matching gilt floral-patterned dentelles; pink moire silk doublures and free endleaves; by L. Broca.

A stunning extra-illustrated copy of this very limited deluxe edition of Dickens's Pickwick Papers--one of only eight printed.
