[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 32 ambrotypes and tintypes of men of varying ages.
Lot comprised of 32 ambrotypes and tintypes. Plate sizes include half plate (1), quarter plate (3), sixth plate (13), ninth plate (14), and sixteenth plate (1).
Highlights include: Sixth plate relievo ambrotype portrait of a gentleman (some emulsion loss). Housed in Union case, Child in a Tree, Farm Scene [Berg 1-93] (some soiling, light surface wear). -- Half plate, lightly hand-tinted ruby ambrotype of a man wearing a large bowtie (light wear to emulsion). Housed in pressed paper case (separated at hinge). -- Quarter plate ambrotype of a man seated, wearing a large bowtie/cravat, with partial inscribed note affixed to cover glass identifying the subject. Housed in pressed paper case. -- Sixth plate tintype portrait of a well-dressed young man, his cheeks lightly tinted pink, housed under mat stamped by photographer, "T.J.B. House." Housed in pressed paper case (separated at hinge). -- Sixth plate ambrotype of a man with a slight smirk, clutching what appears to be a crutch under his arm (some cracking/wear to emulsion). Housed half case (significant surface wear).
