Lot comprised of 31 daguerreotypes of children, from infants to teenagers, including portraits of individual subjects and siblings. Plate sizes include quarter plate (1), sixth plate (22), ninth plate (7), and sixteenth plate (1).
Highlights include: Quarter plate portrait of a lovely young woman, likely a teenager, wearing an off-the-shoulder dress with black lace detail (light tarnish to edges). Housed in pressed paper case (separated at hinge). -- Sixth plate portrait of a girl standing in a studio setting, holding a pail in one hand while resting her other hand on a a decorative prop (some spotting to plate). Housed in Union case with scroll design (some surface wear). -- Sixth plate portrait of a young boy with book in hand (overall very good). Housed in half case (significant surface loss). -- Sixth plate portrait of a toddler-aged girl wearing a fancy dress, housed on under mat stamped by photographer, Anson of New York, with additional credit to Anson on velvet pad (some tarnish to edges, surface wear to plate). Housed in pressed paper case (significant surface wear and some damage to case, almost fully separated at hinge). -- Sixth plate portrait of a beautiful young girl in a fancy dressed adorned with vertical stripes and lace gloves, housed under mat stamped by photographer, Gurney of New York (tarnish to edges).
