Lot Description

Prototype Mission Knives & Tools Non-Serrated MPF-1 All Titanium Folding Knife - Only 4 Produced, with Homer Brett Letter
War on Terror

4.25" blackened single edged drop point blade, 9.25" in overall length. 5.125" grip. Frame locking folding knife, made entirely of titanium, including the small parts, pins and screws and even the belt clip. Obverse ricasso marked MPF over MISSION. Produced in the late 1990s by Mission Knives & Tools for the US Special Forces community, the production run of standard knives, which included a half-serrated blade, was only 500 pieces. Due to interest expressed by the SF operators, a total of six sample knives were produced without the blade serrations, two from the initial run of twenty knives, which are serial numbered #1 and #20 respectively and four unnumbered knives, like this one. As no contract materialized for the non-serrated version, the firm disposed of three of the unnumbered knives, and kept one as a sample. One was gifted by the firm and two were sold by noted edged weapons consultant, historian and author Homer Brett who was consulting with Mission at that time. This knife was sold to noted edged weapons historian, author and dealer Gary Boyd by Homer Brett, and is accompanied by a letter from Mr. Brett to Mr. Boyd about the knife and detailing some history. The knife is accompanied by its original box and Mr. Brett's letter.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
