Lot Description
Japanese WWII Gendaito with Shin Gunto Tsuba, Saya, and Lanyard Loop
27" Nagasa (Blade length). 39.25" with Tsuka (Hilt) and Saya (Scabbard). Shinogi Zukuri blade with O-Kissaki that has been professionally sharpened and polished down, featuring Ihori Mune and Komaru Boshi. Blade displays Ayasugi Hada with a Sugu Hamon line. Blade appears to have been resharpened numerous times, and currently mounts a mixture of a Shin Gunto scabbard and Tsuba with the remaining fittings in more traditional stylefeaturing Sentoku Fuchi and Kashira with blackened finishes and Sakura blossoms with leaves. Dragon Menuki on either side are contained by brown grip tape over a traditional white same. Item mounts an iron lanyard loop through the Tsuka forward of the Kashira. Shin gunto pattern leather wrapped wood scabbard is laced near the throat, and mounts a single articulated steel hanging loop. The Futsu Nakago features a Kuri-Jiri tip and no Mei.
