Lot Description
Group of US Civil War Accoutrements: Carbine Cartridge Box, 2 Cap Pouches and 2 Carbine Sockets
American Civil War
1) Carbine Cartridge Box with wood block for 20 nominally .55" diameter holes for 20 rounds of ammunition. Box measures nominally 7.5"x3.25"x1.5", not including the outer flap. Illegible maker's mark on inner flap. Weak inspection mark on outer flap. Rivet reinforced closure tab with arched stitching, for belt wear only.
2) SH Young of Newark contract cap pouch. Maker's mark on inner flap, inspection on outer flap. Retains some of the wool and the cone pick.
3) Contract cap pouch with no visible maker's mark and weak, illegible inspection mark on outer flap. Missing wool and pick.
Items 4) to 7) Four Civil War era carbine sockets, two METZGER marked, one with an illegible mark and one unmarked.
