Lot Description
Two US Pattern July of 1864 Type II Cartridge Boxes and Two Cap Pouches
American Civil War
1) Watertown Arsenal produced Pattern of July 1864 Type II .58 caliber Cartridge Box measuring nominal 7.25"x5.75"x1.75", not including the outer flap. Embossed US in an oval on the outer flap, Watertown Arsenal mark and 1864 date on inner flap over US. Both tin magazines are intact as are the box belt buckles.
2) E.A. Crossman & Co contract Pattern of July 1864 Type II .58 caliber Cartridge Box measuring nominally 7"x5.75"x1.75", not including the outer flap. Embossed US in an oval on the outer flap, along with the Crossman maker's cartouche and an Ordnance inspector's cartouche. Both tin magazines are intact as are the box belt buckles.
3) Cap Pouch by H HEAD of Quincy, Illinois and so marked on the inner flap. No wool present but what appears to be an original cone pick is in place.
4) Cap Pouch by Baker & McKinney of New York and so marked on the inner flap. No wool or pick present.
