31.5" single edged spear point blade with a 21.5" stopped median fuller. Blade width at ricasso is 1.1". Overall length 37.25". 5.5" hilt with cast brass guard with foliate decoration in face and plain knuckle bow. Cord wrapped wood grip with shagreen covering and twisted wire which is loose but partly present. Reverse ricasso stamped HORSTMANN/& SONS in two lines with the obverse stamped PHILADELPHIA. Blade with traces of etched foliate and martial themes. Sword is accompanied by a brass mounted leather scabbard with a rear seam and a set of Stuart sword hangers.
