Lot Description
Two Ames Model 1840 Swords, 1 NCO and 1 Musicians
American Civil War
1) US Model 1840 NCO Sword by Ames. 32" single edged spear point blade with 30" stopped median ricasso. Blade .88" wide at ricasso. Overall length 38.75" with a 6" cast brass hilt with dual clam shell guards and knuckle bow. Cast grip with faux wire wrap cast into it. Reverse ricasso with Ames scroll mark, obverse ricasso marked U.S./ADK/1858. Knuckle bow with script WAT inspection. No scabbard is present.
2) US Model 1840 Musician's Sword by Ames. 28.25" single edged spear point blade with 26" stopped median ricasso. Blade .82" wide at ricasso. Overall length 34.5" with a 6.25" cast brass hilt without a guard and a single knuckle bow. Cast grip with faux wire wrap cast into it. Reverse ricasso with Ames scroll mark, obverse ricasso marked U.S./AHC/1862. Knuckle bow with block ADK inspection. Includes a brass mounted leather scabbard.
