Overall length 26.5" with a 5.375" cast brass hilt with cast fish scale grip texturing and half basket guard with thick disc quillon. Reverse of blade marked U.S.N./1843/JCB in three lines with the obverse marked N.P. AMES/SPRINGFIELD. Quillon with NWP inspection on overset and WAT on reverse. No scabbard is present.
