Lot Description

US Model 1841 Naval Cutlass
Mexican American War

21" wasp waisted double edged spear point blade with pronounce median ridge. Blade 1.75" wide at ricasso. Overall length 26.5" with a 5.375" cast brass hilt with cast fish scale grip texturing and half basket guard with thick disc quillon. Reverse of blade marked U.S.N./1843/JCB in three lines with the obverse marked N.P. AMES/SPRINGFIELD. Quillon with NWP inspection on overset and WAT on reverse. No scabbard is present.
