Lot Description
US Model 1860 Naval Cutlass by Ames with Scabbard
American Civil War
25.75" slightly curved single-edged blade with 18" median fuller. Blade 1.2" wide at ricasso. Overall length 32" with a 5.75" hilt. Riveted sheet brass basket guard, Phrygian helmet pommel cap, grooved wood grip. Obverse ricasso dated 1862. Reverse ricasso with no visible markings. Upper face inside guard is stamped with the rack number 13M/139. Includes correct riveted leather scabbard with brass frog button. A solid example of a Civil War US Naval Cutlass with a relatively nice scabbard.
