Overall length 38". 6" hilt with cast brass guard and grooved wooden grip with shagreen covering and 14 wraps of twisted wire. Blade etched TIFFANY/& Co/NEW YORK in a panel above the ricasso on the reverse of the blade. Blade decorated with acid etched foliate, marital and patriotic themes, with a large US in the central panel on the reverse and a panoply of arms in the central panel on the obverse. Face of guard marked with the bench number 239. No throat washer is present. The sword is accompanied by a German silver scabbard with no throat that is engraved with foliate, patriotic and martial themes.
