Lot Description

Five Civil War Era Socket Bayonets with Scabbards: 4 US and 1 English

1) US Model 1835 .69 Caliber Bayonet with Pattern 1839 Scabbard. 18" blade, 2.66" socket, mortised for a bottom stud. 20.75" in overall length. Ricasso stamped US.
2) US Model 1855 .58 Caliber Socket Bayonet with Pattern of 1863 "7-Rivet" scabbard. 18" blade with 16.5" fuller, 3" socket and 21" in overall length. Ricasso stamped US.
3) US Model 1855 .58 Caliber Socket Bayonet with Pattern of 1864 "8-Rivet" scabbard. 18" blade with 16.75" fuller, 3" socket and 21" in overall length. Ricasso stamped US.
4) US Model 1855 .58 Caliber Socket Bayonet with Pattern of 1864 "8-Rivet" scabbard. 15.5" blade with 13.75" fuller, 3" socket and 18.5" in overall length. Ricasso stamped US. Blade has been shortened about 2.5" from its original 18" length. Scabbard well marked with an R NECE contractor mark and an A.D. LAIDLEY inspection mark.
5) British Pattern 1853 Enfield Socket Bayonet with Pattern 1861 Scabbard. 18" blade with 16.25" fuller, 3" socket and 20.75" in overall length. Ricasso with clear RSAF Enfield British Military inspection mark of E/{CROWN}/30. Scabbard with weak British Military WD/{BROAD ARROW} marking.
