Three US Model 1855 Type Saber Bayonets with Scabbards
American Civil War
1) 1855 Pattern Saber Bayonet for Altered Harpers Ferry M1841 Rifles with the standard 1855 type saber bayonet lug. 21.625" semi-Yataghan blade with 15.5" fuller. 4.75" cast brass hilt with 17 grooves and pinned reinforcement behind guard. Reverse of blade stamped N.J at ricasso, with lower reverse quillon stamped N.J as well. Likely used with the New Jersey marked Harpers Ferry Type IV M1841 Rifles that were issued to the state. Includes a correct pattern brass mounted leather scabbard.
2)1855 Pattern Saber Bayonet for Harpers Ferry M1855 Rifles. 21.325" semi-Yataghan blade with 15.5" fuller. 4.75" cast brass hilt with 17 grooves and pinned reinforcement behind guard. Reverse of blade stamped US, reverse of pommel cap with mating number 45. Top of hilt with a tiny SP inspection mark behind the muzzle ring. Includes a correct pattern brass mounted leather scabbard.
3) 1855 Pattern Saber Bayonet for Altered Harpers Ferry M1841 Rifles with the standard 1855 type saber bayonet lug. 21.625" semi-Yataghan blade with 15.25" fuller. 4.75" cast brass hilt with 17 grooves and pinned reinforcement behind guard. Blade unmarked, top of hilt with tiny WW inspection behind the muzzle ring and the mating number 38 near the mortise cut. Includes a correct pattern brass mounted leather scabbard.
