Lot Description
Martial Remington Transitional Beals to Elliot Navy Revolver
American Civil War
.36 caliber. 7.375" octagonal barrel. SN: 15269. Blued finish, color casehardened hammer, brass triggerguard, smooth two-piece walnut grips. Single action percussion revolver with solid frame, unfluted six-chambered cylinder without safety notches at the rear, high spur hammer, German silver cone front sight and unmodified Elliot's patent loading lever groove without the modification screw added. Two-line barrel address with Elliot patent date reads PATENTED DEC. 17, 1861/MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION, N.Y. "J" and "C" sub-inspections on many of the metal parts, a clear script CGC cartouche is present on the left grip. Matching serial number on grip frame under grips and under barrel, with an original barrel serial number marked out at the factory. Both grips are very lightly pencil numbered to the gun, cylinder is not numbered, which is not uncommon. A very nice and crisp martial Remington Navy revolver. {ANTIQUE}
