Lot Description
Savage Navy Revolver
American Civil War
.36 caliber. 7.125" octagonal barrel. SN: 969. Blued and color casehardened finish, two-piece smooth walnut grips. Ring cocking action percussion gas seal revolver with six-chambered un-fluted cylinder, fixed notch rear sight and tall brass cone front sight. Top strap marked clearly in three lines: SAVAGE R.F.A.CO. MIDDLETOWN, CT./H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17, 1856/JANUARY 18, 1859 MAY 15, 1860. Serial number on right of frame under grip with matching assembly number 77 on grip frame, under barrel where it is concealed by the loading lever and in the grips. The revolver was not further disassembled. The revolver has H and P military inspection or sub-inspection marks on the barrel but no other inspection marks are noted. A really fine and crisp example of a gun that is hard to find with any kind of condition at all. {ANTIQUE}
