Lot Description
Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver with Period Holster
American Civil War
.36 caliber. 7.375" octagonal barrel. SN: 117679 (mfg. ca. 1861). Blued and color casehardened finish, brass backstrap and triggerguard, one-piece smooth walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with toggle link loading lever, six-chambered unfluted cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight and brass post front sight. Barrel with one-line New York U.S. America address, lower left of frame with COLT'S/PATENT mark. All visible serial number match, including the wedge. Cylinder with weak markings and only traces of scene. An only partially legible name is in the bottom of the grip of the pistol. Includes a period leather holster that shows heavy wear and finish loss.
