Lot Description
1861 Production Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver
American Civil War
.36 caliber. 7.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 115489 (mfg. ca. 1861). Blued and color casehardened finish, brass backstrap and triggerguard, one-piece smooth walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with six-chambered un-fluted cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight and brass post front sight. Barrel rolled in a single line - ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA -. Lower left of frame with two-line COLT'S/PATENT mark. Cylinder with weak Texas-Mexican naval battle scene and marked COLT'S PATETN No 115489. Matching numbers throughout, including wedge, although the number in the grip cut out is illegible with only the number "4" visible. A solid example of a late 1861 production Colt Navy Revolver that almost certainly saw use during the Civil War. {ANTIQUE}
