Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged via a trapdoor to the right receiver. Make and model mark to left receiver reads MODEL 1898. followed by U.S./SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. Wrist shows a weakened circle P marking while the left receiver shows the boxed JSA/1899 cartouche of Joseph S. Adams. Mounting screw points for the original rear sight have been filled in and the screw heads intentionally polished down, rendering them non removable without special tools.
