American Civil War
11.5" holster body, diagonally 16" from tip to farthest part of holster flap with flap closed. Sized to fit a Colt 1860 Army revolver. One piece body and flap construction with seam sewn along the lower edge of the barrel portion of the holster. 2.5" wide by 4.5" tall belt loop on rear of holster to accommodate up to a 4" belt is sewn without rivet reinforcements. A large brass stud on the face of the holster is intended to engage the closure flap. Leather decorated with embossed edge lines around the flap and belt loop and a soldier added decorative hex-style flower of life symbol of the face of the flap. The holster appears to be a civilian made copy of a US military holster and may be of southern origin.
