Mexican War Era Eagle Hilt US Militia Officers Sword with Blued & Gilt Blade
Mexican-American War

29.75" straight, single edged spear point blade with 22.75" stopped median fuller. 1" wide at ricasso. 35" in overall length. 5.5" Eagle pommel hilt of gilt cast brass with "reverse P" knuckle bow, full backstrap, and forward swept upper quillon. Checkered bone grip. Blade decorated with blue and gilt floral, martial and patriotic motifs. Sword is accompanied by an engraved sheet brass scabbard with two suspension rings and a frog button.
