Lot Description

US Model 1842 Pistol by Henry Aston
American Civil War

.54 caliber. 8.5" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading percussion ignition pistol with swivel ramrod, no rear sight and brass blade front sight. Lock with standard Aston markings and dated 1851 at tail. Tang with matching 1851 date, breech with US/JH/P inspection marks, with the "P" nearly cleaned away. Counterpane with weak cartouches, the first essentially illegible and the second a partially legible WAT. A decent example of the last percussion muzzleloading single shot pistol to be adopted by the US military for widespread issue. {ANTIQUE}

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
