Lot Description
Colt Single Action Army Artillery Alteration Revolver
Spanish American War
.45 Colt. 5.5" barrel. SN: 2028 (mfg. ca. 1873). Blued finish, one-piece walnut grip. Single action black powder frame revolver with loading gate and six-chambered fluted cylinder, rebuilt for post-Indian Wars service with mixed numbers and a shortened barrel. One line "italics" barrel address, three-date in two-line patent markings on frame with U.S. stamp. Mismatched numbers appear to be 132642 on triggeguard, 7333 on barrel and 2028 on frame. Butt and cylinder numbers are no longer legible, although the cylinder may be 2644 and also with a P and weak D.F.C. inspection. Barrel with J and P inspections and cut for the early style ejector rod housing locating stud. Early style ejector housing, missing the locating stud, with bullseye rod tip, military pattern hammer, frame channel rear sight, front sight blade. Grips are ill-fitting replacements. {ANTIQUE}
