Cartouche to the left wrist is illegible. Markings include U.S./MODEL/1873 to breechblock, U.S/SPRINGFIELD to the lock flanked by the {US Army Spread Winged Eagle} mark. Both barrel bands show U stamps and the buttplate is marked US. Rear model 1877 sight ladder and base are struck R for rifle. Barrel shows P/V/P/{Eagles Head} with additional P and R markings.
