Type 98 Shin Gunto
World War II
27.875" Nagasa (Blade Length). 38.6" overall with Tsuka (Hilt) and Saya (Scabbard). Shinogi-Zukuri blade exhibiting a Gunome Hamon line with regular Aishi and set in World War II Type 98 Shin-Gunto style mounts. Tsuba is brass and features four Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) in each corner over a Nanako ground, and with all hilt components struck with the number 19. Fuchi features a spring catch to secure the sword to the Saya (Scabbard). Standard Type 98 mountings include brown grip tape over a Rayskin same and retaining Sakura Menuki to each flank. The blade shows a long Mei (Signature) with a Showa stamp near the silver-plated Habaki. Comes with a brown painted steel Saya with wood core and a single mounting loop. Lanyard loop to the Kashira. Lacks a Mekugi pin, leaving the hilt components loose. The port for the Mekugi Pin in the Tsuka does not line up with the Nakago.
