8vo. Engraved frontispiece, additional engraved vignette title-page, 38 engraved plates by Browne. Early 20th-century polished calf gilt, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, crimson and citron morocco lettering-pieces gilt, top edge gilt, stamp-signed Sangorski & Sutcliffe for Marshall Field; slipcase.
FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, second issue with the signpost reading "£100," but with the early 13-line errata leaf. According to Smith "An earlier 13-line errata leaf exists with the same data that is found on the 14-line leaf; the setting was changed to 14-lines for a better balance."
