Lot Description

[WESTERN AMERICANA]. 11 tintypes of cowboys and gunslingers.

11 loose tintypes ranging in size from 1 1/2 x 1 in. to 5 x 3 1/4 in. Highlights include:

Standing portrait of a serious looking character sporting a beard and mustache, positioning his hand on what may be a Colt single-action revolver, which is tucked inside his Slim Jim holster. Housed under paper mat. -- Standing view of a cowboy wearing a wide-brimmed hat and vest, with Colt single-action revolver tucked in his holster. -- Standing portrait of a mustachioed character wearing a wide-brimmed hat and bib shirt, with what appears to be a European revolver tucked in his holster. -- Standing portrait of a confident cowboy posed with one hand on his hip. Housed under paper mat. -- Small tintype of a mustachioed cowboy wearing what appears to be a fur vest and neck kerchief, approx. 1 5/8 x 1 in., housed in paper sleeve with ink stamp of "O(?) F. Cushman" on verso. -- 6 studio portraits of cowboys and other rough-and-tumble characters. The subjects wear a variety of wide-brimmed hats, and many also wear tall leather boots.
