Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A collection of assorted pairs of images featuring the same subject.
A collection of assorted pairs of images featuring the same subject, incl. example by R.E. WEEKS, Sandusky, OH. Pairs include two sixth plate daguerreotypes of the same possibly Native American woman - in one portrait (housed together in a Union case with a portrait of a man) she holds a baby, and in the other she is by herself with a closed cased image sitting on the table next to her. -- Two quarter plate ambrotypes - one likely a copy of the other - featuring a lovely young woman holding a baby in a charming, intimate pose. The original is housed under a mat stamped for "R. E. WEEKS" of Sandusky, OH, and the likely copy is housed in a case with velvet pad marked for "E. LONG" of St. Louis, MO. -- A quarter plate ambrotype and a CDV of the same middle-aged woman in the same pose - the CDV is likely a copy of the ambrotype. -- Two quarter plate tintypes of an older gentleman with somewhat unkempt hairstyle and a young boy, laterally reversed so that one is likely a copy of the other. -- And 6 more pairs of images featuring the same subjects. Conditions and housings vary. -- Together, 10 pairs of images featuring the same subject.
