Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR]. A trio of sixth plate portraits of pards, including a ruby ambrotype of 2 young soldiers.

Landscape-oriented ruby ambrotype portrait of two pards posed with their arms over each other's shoulders. The one on the viewer's left has a striking gaze and wears a kepi with brass letter "B." (Few spots, some light discoloration to edges, spotting to mat; sealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case. -- Seated tintype portrait of two middle-aged soldiers with mustaches and long hair, the one on the viewer's right bearing a fascinating resemblance to a young Albert Einstein. Both wear frock coats with collar and sleeve piping and sit with their arms crossed low. (Few imperfections, rather clear image; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (surface wear, repair to spine). -- Standing tintype portrait of two young pards wearing light blue tinted trousers. One rests his hand on a studio column to the viewer's right. (Some flaking and spots of image loss; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (surface wear, loss). -- Together, 3 sixth plate portraits of pairs of soldiers.
