Housed in a pressed paper case (surface wear, some separating to spine). -- CDV-sized tintype full standing portrait of an Indian Wars-era private wearing an M1874 5-button sack coat with fold over collar with an M1872 forage cap. He wears gaiters, a knapsack, a canteen, and a rectangular "US" belt plate. The rifle he holds upward appears to be either an M1866 Allin conversion or a slightly later M1868 Trapdoor. (Few imperfections to plate, some areas of slightly softer focus, spotting to mat; unsealed.)
