Lot Description

US Springfield Model 1870 Navy Rolling Bock Rifle
Indian Wars

.50-70. 32.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Dark brown patina overall in walnut straight wrist stock with full length upper handguard secured by two barrel bands mounting replaced rear ladder sight. Single shot breechloading rolling block rifle marked USN/SPRINGFIELD/1870 on the right frame. Tang is marked REMINGTONS PATENT/MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1868. The buttplate is stamped US, and both barrel bands are marked U. Saber bayonet has been ground off, and the configuration is consistent with the 2nd delivery type. Multiple frame screws are replaced, as is the tang screw. Comes with non matching cleaning rod, and mounts a reproduction sling.
