Lockplate is struck with the {US Eagle} followed by US/SPRINGFIELD. Breechblock is struck U.S/MODEL/1884 while the left barrel is marked V/P/{Eaglehead} along with an additional P and A stamp. Both barrel bands are struck U, and the buttplate is marked US. Counterpane shows the boxed SWP/1889 cartouche of Samuel W. Porter. Wrist exhibits a circle P mark and U.
